The Feudo Galefona Agritourism is situated in a strategic position, very close to the most beautiful beaches in the area. In fact, just 10-minutes drive away, you can take a tour in one of the most famous tourist destinations of Sicily: Cefalù.
In Cefalù it is not easy to get bored, and it is difficult not to have fun. The sea of Cefalù is famous for its clear waters, and its wide beaches offer endless possibilities for fun and relaxation. Among the most popular: Lido di Cefalù, Mazzaforno, Presidiana, Kalura, Sant’Ambrogio, Torre Conca and Sette Frati.
Cefalù is famous for its artistic heritage as it was influenced by Roman, Arab and Norman domination, which greatly enriched it. The symbolic monuments of the city are certainly the impressive Norman Cathedral and the Mandralisca Museum, which houses the most beautiful paintings by Antonello da Messina.
For those who are shopping-addicted, there are numerous boutiques that remain open until late in the evening, in the centre of Cefalù. Also higly recommended is the walk up the 268 mt. high cliff, called “Rocca”, which surmounts Cefalù and from which you can enjoy a panoramic view of the sea and the Aeolian Islands.

Ypsigrock, indie rock music festival

Ypsigrock, indie rock music festival

15Mar

Staying at the Feudo Galefona Agritourism, you can decide to live a musical experience from the international artistic quality. In fact, every year in August the Ypsigrock takes place, it’s an indie rock music festival, in Castelbuono, just 10-minute drive away from the farmhouse. The “indie rock” is not defined as a musical genre, but as an attitude. The artists, in fact, demand independence and a certain artistic freedom of expression, out of line with the consumerist clichés dictated by the major record labels.
The Ypsigrock has built more and more consensus, from year to year, to the point where it has become an event from the international prestige. Among the historical artists of the event, it is important to mention Belle & Sebastian, Editors, Primal Scream, Savages and Mudhoney. A standing appointment for all lovers of alternative rock, who come from all over the world to attend the various exhibitions, in a charming and lovely setting. The stage, in fact, is set up in Piazza Castello, where it is possible to admire the staircase leading to the Castle of Ventimiglia. An imposing structure from the Middle Age, built for defensive purposes in order to control the territory of the Madonie. At present, it houses the Civic Museum where there are collections of sacred, archaeological and urban art of this famous town.
Therefore, the Ypsigrock Festival is the can’t miss event of the season for those who want to spend a few days of vacation between music, culinary delights and amazing sceneries of the Madonie.

Madonie Astronomical Park Gal Hassin

Madonie Astronimical Park: Gal Hassin

13Mar

Just 3 km away from the Feudo Galefona Agritourism, in the suggestive village of Isnello, there is the Madonie Astronomical Park – Gal Hassin.
The Astronomical Park was born to serve a definite purpose: appreciating the “sky” for its value, as an environmental good and as a resource as much as the most beautiful naturalistic realities present within the district.
Isnello has become a point of reference for the scientific community with regard to the observation of the sky, for its clarity and for its remoteness from “polluting” light sources. All these features, create the perfect environment for observing galaxies, stars, “space debris” and let you lose yourself from the immensity of the universe.
Each year the administration of Isnello, awards the “Gal Hassin Prize” to scientists who have made an outstanding contribution to astronomical science research. It deals with an embroidery on a net of gold thread, that depicts a spiral galaxy. The award was given to scientists like Margherita Hack and George Fitzgerald Smoot III, Nobel Prize for Physics in 2006.
The quality of the “night sky” of Isnello is an integrated value for the promotion of the territory but, this beautiful village is also famous for the handicraft and for the delicacy of its cuisine. Therefore, it would be a sacrilege visiting the village and not to taste, for example, the black pork sausages, lamb castrated or other specialties. So, don’t miss it!
